Literature Text

Meanwhile, Arthur and his men have reached a small blue house near the outskirts of Minneapolis.
It is quiet little town here of only two thousand people, and is surrounded by park land. Deer roam the town and there are birds a plenty.
Arthur pulls into the house’s driveway, and park near its garage door as if they belong there.
The three men step out and have a look around. There isn’t much traffic, and across the street is a forest. It is a very peaceful place to live.
“I wish I grew up in a place like this.” The one says.
Arthur leads them to the door, where he rings the door bell.
A sharply dressed old man answers the door.
Joy fills his eyes as he looks to see who is there.
“Arthur! And Daniel!, oh, and George! How nice it is to see you!” The man says, hugging each agent.
“It’s a please to see you two, Max!” Arthur plays along.
“Come in, come in!” Max offers, and the men oblige.
The three agents walk in and take off their shoes as Arthur closes the doors behind them.
Max moves some things off the kitchen table and invites them to sit down, pouring them some coffee.
Daniel and George accept the offer, but Arthur doesn’t; he’s not much of a coffee person.
Max takes a seat with them, and looses all pretenses.
“So why are you here?” He asks, a bit sour.
“We are here because we have lost a valuable asset.” Daniel says and takes a sip of coffee.
Arthur takes a few sugar cubes and puts them into his coffee, intending to actually drink it. George and Daniel have no problem with the coffee.
“That makes here sound like an object.” Arthur says.
“Yes, my mistake. I’m sorry, Max. She is Travis’s wife.” Daniel corrects himself.
Max is surprised at that news.
“He’s married now?” he asks.
“Wife to be.” George corrects Daniel again.
Arthur takes a sip of his coffee, and gives a disgusted face.
“Ah, I see.” Max says.
Arthur places a few more sugar cubes in the coffee.
“We are tasked with getting her back.” Arthur says.
Max is a little confused.
“Surely you can find her yourself.” Max says.
Arthur tries his drink again, but isn’t pleased.
“I thought the same thing, but Arthur was the one who said we should come here.” Daniel says.
Max sits back a little.
“What could you possibly need me for?” Max asks.
“That’s just it,” Arthur says, “We aren’t here for you.”
Max’s jaw drops.
“No... No.” He says. “You can’t seriously be here for Aelita.
“I’m sorry Max, we are.” Arthur says.
Max looks to Daniel, then George; hoping to find disagreement in them. Alas, they know now that they are here for that purpose.
“Do you know what she does all day?” Max says. “She scares me. No one would have her power.”
Arthur takes another drink from his coffee, but still isn’t completely satisfied with it.
“You haven’t seen Travis lately. Have you?” Daniel says jokingly.
“I don’t think you should see her. Not now.” Max says. “She hasn’t left her room in days.”
Arthur and Daniel looks at each other. This is a sure sign of something bad.
Aelita become distant and separated from people for they week or so leading up to a big event, and this fits right in with what is happening.
“In that case, we need to see her for sure.” Arthur says.
“Please, no. I don’t know what she will do to anyone should they get near.” Max pleads with them.
Arthur looks at his coffee, unsure of it. Finally, he decides to drink it all in one go.
“Max, you are protecting her, not us.” Daniel says. “We will be alright.”
Reluctantly, Max finally agrees to take the three men to Aelita.
He stands up, and the agents follow his lead. Max takes him down the hall to a door plastered in the obligatory teen “Do not enter” signs.
Max knocks on the door.
“Aelita, you have guests.” Max says to the door.
“I know.” A girl’s voice calls from inside the room.
Max opens the door and lets the three men in.
The room is a mess, from wall to wall there are drawings, notes, book pages and new clippings posted. The floor is covered in books and scrolls, and there are magic apparatuses spread around the room.
Aelita is sitting in the middle of the floor, where she overlooks what appears to be a puddle of water on a large piece of old paper. It’s not a puddle, but rather, a spell designed to show events taking place.
With this, the Pool of Sight, she can see anything she wants to see. Astounding in its own right, she is also the third being to be given a particular gift. The Gift of Heimdall was possessed by the Norse god Vindler, or more commonly know as Heimdallr. It was then passed on to the hero of the universe, Travis Awesome. Aelita, after the Battle of Orbis Terrarum, discovered that she too, has the gift.
With the Gift of Heimdall, and the Pool of Sight, along with other spells that grant knowledge, she is an all knowing being.
Anything that happens in the universe, be it in the present, past, future, or even in different dimensions and realms. She can even see what might happen given a specific choice.
“Hello again, Arthur.” She says without turning away from the Pool of Sight.
Arthur looks at her, shocked at what he sees.
“My lord, how you have changed, Aelita.” He says.
“You have changed as well, dear Arthur.” She says to him.
Arthur takes a step forward to Aelita, he doesn’t know what to say.
“I am still the loving girl you once knew, Arthur” She add. “Though, I am pre-occupied now.”
“What has you so enveloped?” Arthur says.
Aelita, for the first time since the men walked into the room, looks at Arthur.
“A war is about to take place.” She says, then turns back to her work.
Arthur is hit hard by this.
“A war??” He says, raising his voice.
“A war for a girl.” She says quietly as she touches the water.
Daniel steps forward.
“A war with who, and when?” He asks, clearly horrified as well.
Aelita takes a deep breath, and her eyes turn into a glowing yellow color.
“I cannot tell you.” She says.
“What? We need to know so we can prevent-” Daniel says, but is interrupted.
“I see all that happens, and to achieve the outcome of least bloodshed, I must not tell you.” She says.
Daniel stands up straight, realizing her power. She can not be disputed, she has taken the most righteous road. Aelita walks the road that seeks the most peace, even if it costs people she knows their lives.
“What can we ask, then?” Arthur asks.
“You may ask anything you want, however, I can only tell you but two answers.” Aelita says.
“Are you going to give us riddles?” Daniel asks impatiently.
Aelita giggle at this.
“No, Daniel.” She says. “In another time, you have already asked all that you could, and you find the right questions.”
“You are giving us riddles.” Daniel responds.
Aelita looks at Arthur.
“You know the right question.” She says to him.
Arthur kneels down next to Aelita, and removes his sunglasses.
“Aelita, sweet little Aelita.” He says to her.
She seems amused at his understanding as he looks into her eyes.
“What are the two answers we seek?” He asks.
Daniel is annoyed at the over simplistic question.
“I could have asked that!” He complains, rolling his eyes.
Aelita smiles brightly, for she knows that it was the correct question.
“The answers you seek are good ones. She is alive, and she is on Satyrus.” Aelita answers.
Arthur is overjoyed to hear this, and puts his hand on Aelita’s head.
“I knew we could depend on you, Aelita.” Arthur says, and kisses her on the forehead.
He stands up and starts to walk away, knowing that he needs not to say thank you, he already has, in one time.
“Arthur?” Aelita calls before he leaves.
Arthur turns around to looks at Aelita again, she is looking at him.
“I want to meet her.” She tells him.
Arthur smiles and puts his sunglasses back on before turning to walk away.
The three agents walk towards the door, their job here is now done.
Max, however, doesn’t think so.
“What are you three doing? You are just going to leave like that?” Max asks them.
“Yup.” Daniel says.
“You can’t just go. What am I going to do?” Max asks.
Arthur stops just before exiting the house and places his hand on Max’s shoulder.
“Max.” Arthur says, as if he has something important to say. “Your coffee is too strong.”
Max is left speechless and dumbfounded, just like Apicem was. He was powerless to stop the agents from leaving.
“Buh bye!” Arthur calls back inside the house as he leaves.
Max stands there as the agents back out of the driveway and drive off down the road.
“I thought my coffee was okay.” He says to himself.
IN the car, the three NGM Agents argue about what to do next.
“We should go to Travis directly” George says.
“I think we should go to Satyrus and end this whole thing. It’s been blown way out of proportion.” Daniels says.
“No, George, Daniel, we are going to go to the Agency, gather our men, and inform the Embassy from there. We need to be prepared for their orders.” He says.
“I just don’t think we need to go that far.” George protests.
“A war is coming.” Arthur retorts.
“You believe that loony?” Daniel says.
Arthur turns his head to look at Daniel, glaring angrily at him.
“Don’t ever say that again.” Arthur demands from Daniel.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know where that came from.” Daniel apologizes.
“We are going to the Agency, and that is final.” Arthur says.
“Alright.” Daniel finally agrees.
This is chapter 6 in my epic, and these is where I cheated. Sorry, but I indulge on conveniences like that if it helps portray and propel the story.
